RTC Overview

The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (SCCRTC) is responsible for major transportation initiatives in Santa Cruz County. The RTC is the government body that will purchase the rail corridor from Union Pacific for an agreed upon $19 million (it is expected that the purchase will conclude in early 2006).

The RTC is made up of representatives of all our local municipalities and unincorporated areas, from Watsonville and Santa Cruz, Aptos, Live Oak, etc., and several Metro bus representatives.

Contacting these representatives is very important. It reminds them that they are a representative government body beholden to the voters. They are responsible for making transportation decisions that benefit all Santa Cruz County residents, and your opinion really does matter. Want a rail trail? Call an RTC member (below) and tell them so!

You can learn more about the SCCRTC by visiting their web site at www.sccrtc.org.
